Should work on xfree86, but you have
xorg, I think. Try some very simple
wm, like "evilwm". It has no back-
ground at all, so you have to put
lines like:
  xsetroot -solid black
  xsetroot -cursor_name top_left_arrow
in your ".xinitrc". Since I don't have
xorg, must to blame syntax of xsetroot
lines.
It would be nice to have tutorial about
diffs between xorg and xfree86 somewhere
on freebsd site. And faqs.
