Software Engineer - FreeBSD System Development

The candidate will be part of JUNOS Core kernel team. JUNOS® Software is a single network operating system integrating routing, switching, security, and network services. JUNOS offers the power of one operating system to reduce complexity, achieve operational excellence, and deliver dynamic services with lower TCO. The consistent operating environment of JUNOS streamlines network operations and improves the availability, performance, and security of business applications.

Responsibilities:

- Work on FreeBSD to support Juniper hardware natively.

- Take Juniper OS modifications and contribute them back to FreeBSD to ease further

  upgrades of our code base. 

- Work on high availability features.

- Extend and improve FreeBSD and Junos for next generation products.

Qualifications and Experience:

- 3-6 years of industry experience in OS development and support.

- Good C programming language, system design and debugging skills are a requirement.

- Familiarity with TCP/IP protocols and networking concepts.

- Familiarity with embedded software development or device drivers is a plus.

- Experience with FreeBSD internals and kernel is highly desired.

- Being an active FreeBSD committer is a big plus.

- BS/MS in CS/CE or similar field is required.

- Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.

- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of other engineers to

  meet aggressive goals and high quality standards.
