My client in Bay Area, CA is looking for 5 FreeBSD kernel developers for contract only/ contract to Hire / Fulltime positions.

Here are the details:

Title: SOFTWARE ENGINEER (FREE BSD KERNEL) - 5 positions

Job description:
The kernel team is responsible for developing and maintaining FreeBSD derived Operating system.
§       Tasks include but not limited to design, develop, and troubleshoot proprietary code in the IP stack, virtual file system, memory management subsystem and other areas as deemed necessary.
§       Ensure high availability systems.

General Requirements:
Ability to be creative, efficient, and productive with minimal supervision or guidance.
Must be able to work both alone and as an efficient, cooperative member of a team.
Must be able to give and receive constructive criticism.

Job requirements:
§       Hands on FreeBSD or Linux kernel development experience with 5.x and later PREFERRED.
§       Strong understanding of TCP/IP protocols suite.
§       Proficient in C.
§       Good verbal and written communication skills.
§       5+ year's industry experience.

Experience with any or all of the following is a STRONG PLUS:
§       Virtual memory
§       Device driver development
§       Embedded FreeBSD
§       SMP/scheduler work
§       IPv6
§       OS porting
§       FreeBSD or Linux kernel development.

Education: BS/MS in CS, EE, or related area.

Location:  San Jose, CA

Anjali,

The position you are posting does seem like an excellent fit for the freebsd-jobs mailing list. I'm sure there are many qualified engineers on the mailing list who would be interested in this opportunity.

However, you are sending an email to a mailing list that reaches thousands of people all over the globe. They have a variety of different skills and experience levels. Telling every single one of them that you find them 'to be excellent fit for this position' will probably not have the desired effect.

May I suggest that you resubmit this, but perhaps not using copy intended for LinkedIn?
