My name is Zafar. I am a Recruiter with  APN Software Services, Inc. 

 

We are looking for Senior Engineers in South San Francisco/San Bruno, CA
area who gets a kick by working on FreeBSD kernel and device-driver level,
hands on coding..

 

Position Title: Sr. FreeBSD Consultant

Location: San Francisco/San Bruno, CA

Duration: 6 - 12 Months Contract

Rate: Open

 

Responsibilities:

.         Define, design and build Middleware Components, Services, and
Frameworks for FreeBSD-based server appliances for web and email security.

.         Design, code, test and deliver system software components,
services, and frameworks, components will be in the area of 64 bit
application and system migration, IPv6 support, and  FreeBSD 7.x to 8.x
migration.

.         Design of interfaces between products to ensure interoperability.
Resolve design issues.

.         Software development for next generation 2U content security
appliance, migrate AsyncOS (Customized version of FreeBSD) to latest
generation of Intel server platforms, integrate new drivers, provide
platform SNMP support, platform identification and brand protection support,
work with Mfg to develop or modify Mfg configuration and test tools in
support of Mfg production line.

 

Required Skills:

.         Expert in C. 

.         Strong knowledge of Linux kernel. 

.         Strong systems integration and debugging skills.

.         Experience analyzing, testing and developing support for OS and
system level software for new hardware platforms.

.         Self starter and able to investigate issues to full root cause
even into operating system kernel. Able to work around limitations such as
no access to source code, design specs, or apis.

.         Full product life cycle experiences.

.         Demonstrated leadership experience on one more complex SW
projects.

.         Excellent communication skills, and ability to influence the
technical direction of complex hardware and software systems.

.         Proven track record in analyzing competing architectures,
designing software architectures to maximize the use of those architectures,
and guiding/influencing the technical community in adopting these designs.

.         Typically requires MSEE/CS combined with 5-7 years of related
experience, or BSEE/CS combined with 7-10+ yrs related experience.

 

Desired Skills:

.         Experience with additional open source operating systems (FreeBSD,
etc.)

.         Familiarity with Intel-based server hardware systems.

.         Virtualization technologies such as Intel VT-d, XEN, VMWare.

 

The ideal candidate demonstrates deep understanding of Linux, FreeBSD, or
Unix Based operating systems, software infrastructure and application
frameworks
