This is a full-time, contract to hire employment opportunity with a global company in Houston, TX.

The Windows/Solaris/Linux Administrator ensures that Windows, Linux and Solaris servers, workstations and supporting infrastructure (virtualization and storage) continue to run efficiently by providing routine and emergency maintenance. He/she will also propose, design, test and install new servers and services as required, create and document systems, configurations and procedures and respond in a timely fashion to user requests for service. 

Responsibilities
- Resolve day to day system issues and IT related technical problems of developers/testers
- Manage/Administer NIS Accounts and NFS/Auto mount environment
- Manage/Administer VMWare and Solaris virtualization infrastructure, and utilize deployment, cloning, 
   and other virtualization features as needed for customer issue resolution 
- Manage DNS updates for development machines
- Routine Windows/Solaris/Linux Administration tasks
                - Hardware/OS refresh
                - Install operating system patches as required
                - Install and administer Oracle application/databases as requested
- Manage/Assist NetApp storage and backup environment
- Maintain hardware asset inventory
- Windows/Unix/Linux security knowledge and issue resolution
- Systems management/ monitoring
- Manage recovery of data through backup facilities in disaster situation

Experience
- In depth knowledge of operating systems (4-5 yrs admin of Solaris 9 & 10, RH Linux 4.x /5.x, Windows)
- Advanced knowledge of NIS, NFS and AutoFS
- Linux Kickstart and Solaris Jumpstart
- Unix shell/Perl scripting knowledge helpful
- Server/Network hardening
- Intermediate Networking skills 
- Server/Blade Server Hardware Installation and Troubleshooting
- Basic Oracle SQL Server and VMware skills
- Excellent analytical & problem solving skills
- Excellent verbal/written communication & customer handling skills
