Job Description :
Our client, a top ten Web property and one of the Internet's leading
content destinations, is looking for a highly motivated Senior Systems
Administrator to add to its Operations group. The ideal candidate will
be experienced in working with diverse, high traffic websites
including various UNIX and Linux platforms and possess a competent
networking background. Candidate must be able to architect long term
solutions to provide for redundancy, scalability, and ease of
management for a large scale internet operation.
This position calls for a sharp, motivated, and meticulous team player
that believes in the support and deployment of open source solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Systems architecture and design.
* Manage server clusters, roll out system updates, streamline
cluster deployment, and enhance system security.
* Ensure for the continued reliable uptime of the service.
* Focus on reliability, site performance, and application tuning.
* Troubleshoot advanced network and service issues.
* Monitoring of systems and networks.
* System and trending analysis and capacity planning.
* Application support including software installation, patches, and
upgrades.
Qualifications:
* BS in Computer Science or a minimum of 5 years Unix/Linux system
administration experience.
* Experience with FreeBSD, Redhat Linux, Apache, MySQL, and Perl.
* TCP/IP experience and the ability to troubleshoot application and
network issues at the packet level.
* Ability to write shell scripts in csh and bash.
* Ability to write and modify Perl scripts.
* Organized and able to methodically document systems and
applications.
* Be a proven team communicator who is able to work across
departments.
* Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
* Able to participate in on-call rotation and some off-hours work.
* Able to quickly adapt to change in an exciting and fast paced
environment.
