Engineering - Software Engineer

Headquartered in Somerset, NJ, Lumeta has 150+ blue chip customers including leading Fortune 1000 companies and government agencies, and the company is growing at a rapid pace, particularly in the government sector and financial services industry. 
Lumeta is seeking a software engineer intimately familiar with software production to become part of a team creating and maintaining Lumeta's suite of network discovery/analyst tools.
 
Responsibilities:
The position's responsibilities will include:
* 10%: System and detailed design of new features and components. 
* 40%: Hands-on maintenance of existing product base.
* 30%: Hands-on development of new product.
* 20%: Unit and integration test oversight in preparation for hand-off to the Quality Assurance group.

Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have:
* 7 or more years in full life-cycle software development.
* Experience implementing in 3-6 month software release cycles, including source-code control, bug tracking, and version management.
* Ability to self-start, quickly becoming familiar with and contributing to fairly-complex software products.
* Strong and current FreeBSD, PERL, C, BASH, and UNIX scripting experience.
* Strong understanding of UNIX and Internet security, SSL, SSH, and PKI.
* A understanding of PXE boot, FreeBSD packaging, sysinstall, and kernel tuning. 
* A understanding of Apache, HTTP(S),  and HTML
* A understanding of TCP/IP protocols, including IP routing.
* BS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering and/or relevant industry experience.

Other important skills for this position:
* Strong verbal and written communications skills and effective presentation skills,
* Strong debugging, design, and unit/integration test background,
* Knowledge of routers, firewalls, and network management is desirable,
* A proven track record of holding similar positions with successful products is also a plus.
