I am looking for a job in or around the Melbourne area of Australia. I
have worked there in the past but have since moved back to europe and
no longer have a work visa. If a company were willing to sponsor me for
a visa, I would gladly pay back all the costs involved.
My ideal job would be a development role using Python on FreeBSD.
However I realise that the likelihood of this is remote and I am
willing to be as flexible as is needed. I also have C++ and Solaris
experience, some Java and a smattering of other languages such as
Smalltalk, Eiffel, Fortran and even some Microsoft Windows development.
My area of speciality was satellite telemetry processing systems but I
have also performed general application development as well. My
telemetry processing skills could well be useful in a SCADA environment
and could even be turned to general communications. I pride myself in
my flexibility in the use of tools and am willing to learn any new
language. operating system or other tool as needed (As I had to learn
Smalltalk on the job for a previous contract).
I have pursued several private projects, primarily using FreeBSD. These
include -
- A CompactFlash based network gateway and wireless access point using
IPSec encryption
- A web based system configuration utility written in Python, which was
intended for a network appliance.
- A satellite telemetry display system written using Python and
wxWindows, which is completely cross platform and so far has been
tested on FreeBSD and Mac OS X.
I hope that my skills will be of use to someone and I'd be especially
glad to work using FreeBSD but I'm willing to work on whatever someone
feels my skills will be of benefit.
Attached is my CV in text format.
Regards,
Neal Nelson.
