Your diagnosis is incorrect. This issue has nothing to do with JNI as such, the crash is caused by a bug in your code. > Attached is the .h file the same. Please help me. Also I have attached > the .log file [..] > JNIEXPORT jstring JNICALL Java_nativetest_sayHello(JNIEnv *env, jobject > thisobject, jstring p_data, jstring p_salt) > { > printf("Inside C program \n"); > printf("=================================\n"); > char *cmdOpenSsl; > jboolean iscopy; > char* cDesc = strdup((*env)->GetStringUTFChars(env, p_data, > &iscopy)); > printf("cDesc == %s ", cDesc); > cmdOpenSsl = "echo -n "; > strcat(cmdOpenSsl, cDesc); You're assigning a non-writable address to the variable cmdOpenSsl and then trying to concatenate something to it. Make sure you a) can write to where you are strcat()ing to, and b) there is sufficient room there. Try something like: static const char *echo = "echo -n "; .. cmdOpenSsl = malloc(strlen(echo) + strlen(cDesc) + 1); strcpy(cmdOpenSsl, echo); strcat(cmdOpenSsl, cDesc); Personally I've found it wise to avoid use of malloc (and indirect use via strdup) in JNI code however. It can be done of course, but you have to be careful to not introduce memory leaks. I would prefer alloca() or use C++ locals. Java passed > string object to this method which is converted to char *. > When I print using printf() function it prints the string > (char *), but strcat() does not like char *. > cmdOpenSsl = "echo -n "; Under modern versions of C literal strings often reside in program memory rather than data memory and therefore cannot be changed. (Memory exception) But even if your compiler places this string in data memory you have made no provision for space to add the suffix. Note also that in C, duplicate literal strings may be implemented as a single string so that if you do manage to change one then the other will also (mysteriously) change. So you need something like: char *cmdOpenSsl; cDesc=strdup(....); cmdOpenSsl=malloc(strlen("echo -n ")+strlen(cDesc)+1); strcpy(cmdOpenSsl,"echo -n "); strcat(cmdOpenSsl,cDesc); The problem would appear to have nothing to do with java. > > > Attached is the .h file the same. I had another idea. Perhaps you have an extra patch floating around. Try this: # rm -r /usr/ports/java/eclipse/files # csup MY_SUPFILE then do the # make clean patch again. I've had that bite me once, but only when I was adding my own patches to ports. It's possible an extra patch file is hanging around. Just a thought. -- Rick C. Unfortunately, this doesn't work on our FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE system (I haven't checked this with a FreeBSD 7.2-RELEASE install yet). The first compile/bootstrap of openjdk6 using the Diablo javac compiler is fine. Afterwards, I wanted to reinstall with other options, that is, with and without IPv6 for testing purposes. This failed (repetitively, also after make clean) when the OpenJDK javac compiler was put to use, e.g. # Running javac: /usr/local/diablo-jdk1.6.0/bin/java -client -Xmx896m -Xms128m -XX:PermSize=32m -XX:MaxPermSize=160m -Xbootclasspath/p:/usr/ports/java/openjdk6/work/build/bsd-i586/langtools/dist/bootstrap/lib/javac.jar ... When I remove the /usr/local/openjdk6 directory, the openjdk6 port reinstalls without any problems, but using the Diablo javac compiler though. I can post the compile errors if someone wants to dive into this to figure out what is going wrong. Best, -- Benno Overeinder -- Benno J. for object heap Message-ID: <56b902d80906100948q734268ccwa5c10210ae7fd05b@mail.gmail.com> I recently tried to install eclipse from the port tree and got several errors saying that it couldn't reserve enough space for the object heap. I tried changing the default java -Xmx -Xms several times but I kept getting the same error output that will be shown below. I am just wondering if this is a common problem, or if I am doing something dumb? If you need more information just let me know. I've successfully built eclipse a dozen times in the last few weeks using WITHOUT_MOZILLA. Try toggling the other two settings to see which one (if any) is breaking the build. -- Rick C. These are heavily templated libraries. The crashes always occur after "#include'ing" some of boost's headers (only with few libraries does the crash occur, however) and when the CDT indexer is running. I attach the JVM output log. To provide access to the PID value in the UNIXProcess class I patch this class, and its Process interface definition, to provide an ID method. This is done on all the Unix platforms where this is needed - Solaris/SPARC, Apple/OS-X (x86 and PowerPC), Suse/Linux (amd64) - by using jar uf on the rt.jar (and its equivalent for OS-X). This works as expected. However, I am in the process of configuring a new FreeBSD amd64 (on Core i7) system and finding that the jar uf fails on the rt.jar distributed by the FreeBSD Java Project with the following error message: java.util.zip.ZipException: invalid entry crc-32 (expected 0x5b50a89a but got 0xe9b76864) The JRE is: java version "1.5.0" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build diablo-1.5.0-b01) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build diablo-1.5.0_07-b01, mixed mode) I've copied the rt.jar to a Suse/Linux (amd64) system and get the same exception there: java.util.zip.ZipException: invalid entry CRC (expected 0x5b50a89a but got 0xe9b76864) The JRE is: java version "1.5.0_16" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_16-b02) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.5.0_16-b02, mixed mode) Since this problem does not occur on the other (non-FreeBSD) platforms, nor does it occur on a 32-bit FreeBSD platform with diablo-1.5 - java version "1.5.0" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build diablo-1.5.0-b00) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build diablo-1.5.0_06-b00, mixed mode) - I can only conclude that the rt.jar in the freebsd6.amd64.1.5.0.07.01 distributions is busted. -- Bradford Castalia Principal Systems Analyst HiRISE Operations Center University of Arizona From kai314159 at gmail.com Mon Jun 29 10:59:19 2009 From: kai314159 at gmail.com (BK L) Date: Mon Jun 29 10:59:26 2009 Subject: bug report Message-ID: # # An unexpected error has been detected by Java Runtime Environment: # # SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0x2be4cb73, pid=35613, tid=0x28201200 # # Java VM: Diablo Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (10.0-b23 mixed mode, sharing bsd-x86) # Problematic frame: # C [libglib-2.0.so.0+0x52b73] g_slice_get_config+0xb63 # # Please submit bug reports to freebsd-java@FreeBSD.org # The crash happened outside the Java Virtual Machine in native code. # See problematic frame for where to report the bug. # --------------- T H R E A D --------------- Current thread (0x28c21800): JavaThread "main" [_thread_in_native, id=673190400, stack(0xbf9af000,0xbf9ff000)] siginfo:si_signo=SIGSEGV: si_errno=0, si_code=1 (SEGV_MAPERR), si_addr=0x00000000 Registers: EAX=0x28c64a00, EBX=0x2bea94a0, ECX=0x00000000, EDX=0x2b0310e8 ESP=0xbf9fe7c0, EBP=0xbf9fe818, ESI=0x28cde808, EDI=0x00000008 EIP=0x2be4cb73, EFLAGS=0x00010206 Top of Stack: (sp=0xbf9fe7c0) 0xbf9fe7c0: bf9fe808 00000080 00000078 280803f4 0xbf9fe7d0: 0000000a 0000000a bf9fe7f8 00000000 0xbf9fe7e0: 00000000 28c2f480 28c2f4e8 28c2f4e0 0xbf9fe7f0: 00000078 00000000 00000000 281867f8 0xbf9fe800: 0000000a 0000000a 2be4cb3d 2bea94a0 0xbf9fe810: 28cde808 00000033 bf9fe888 2be4ddc6 0xbf9fe820: 000007f8 bf9fe834 2805fb16 28201200 0xbf9fe830: 280803f4 bf9fe874 2805d838 2bea94a0 Instructions: (pc=0x2be4cb73) 0x2be4cb63: 74 4c 8b 12 85 d2 74 46 8b 4d c4 8b 14 01 8b 0a 0x2be4cb73: 8b 01 89 02 8b 55 c4 8b 83 dc 04 00 00 8b 04 02 Stack: [0xbf9af000,0xbf9ff000], sp=0xbf9fe7c0, free space=317k Native frames: (J=compiled Java code, j=interpreted, Vv=VM code, C=native code) C [libglib-2.0.so.0+0x52b73] g_slice_get_config+0xb63 C [libglib-2.0.so.0+0x53dc6] g_slice_alloc+0x736 C [libglib-2.0.so.0+0x54a52] g_slist_prepend+0x12 C [libglib-2.0.so.0+0x57cb5] g_strsplit+0x185 C [libglib-2.0.so.0+0x68fc6] g_get_system_data_dirs+0x3a6 C [libglib-2.0.so.0+0x6a7a7] g_get_home_dir+0xb7 C [libgnomevfs-2.so.0+0x21969] gnome_vfs_init+0x19 C [libmawt.so+0x28ce6] init+0x76 C C From bugmaster at FreeBSD.org Mon Jun 29 11:07:02 2009 From: bugmaster at FreeBSD.org (FreeBSD bugmaster) Date: Mon Jun 29 11:08:40 2009 Subject: Current problem reports assigned to freebsd-java@FreeBSD.org Message-ID: <200906291107.n5TB71r1046395@freefall.freebsd.org> Note: to view an individual PR, use: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=(number).
