Just an FYI, I installed firefox-1.5.0.7_1,2 along side of firefox-2.0_1,1 and java works fine in firefox-1.5.0.7_1,2 without any changes to the configuration in my previous email. linux-firefox-2.0 also doesn't seem to work with regards to java.
