I have no idea about how to fix it but in case you want to be able to
build Java ports on 4.x until we get a real fix, you could try to set
this in /etc/make.conf for instance:

JAVA_PREFERRED_PORTS=	JAVA_PORT_LINUX_SUN_JDK_1_4

Unless, of course, this is not a diablo-jdk related issue...
