Please Help - Installing Firebird2 on FreeBSD 6.2

If I don't get help here, then it is nowhere ;)

I am stuck trying to install databases/firebird2-server on FreeBSD 
6.2-STABLE. It simply does not do with "make install" or even my
favorite "portinstall".
I have googled for two days and the closest I came was this:

However, I still cannot get going as it still fails like this:

Has anyone managed to install this beast in FreeBSD? What could I be 
missing?
