Yes which is a testimate to qmail's flexibility. You can easily customize
the response codes as well as the SIZE/recipient verification in the control
files.

Look at http://develooper.com/code/qpsmtpd/ it is a drop in replacement for
the smtpd daemon written in perl (ever want to write your own plugin to a
mail server? here is the framework).
