Weird lockup of network traffic...

If you really thing its a buffer[1] problem try:
	netstat -m
	netstat -sfinet 

And if you find problems recompile with:

options         NMBCLUSTERS=<higher value>

man mbuf

[1]: mbuf clusters exhausted
