Hi everyone,
I've been working primarily on the port of Open64 to OpenSolaris, but
that's probably not interesting. The interesting part is that I've
slowly been merging my work with another FreeBSD developer. I know
Open64 generates highly optimized code for IA-64 and thought to see if
anyone in the community wants to help participate/test.
Patch:

svn:

Original port: (Not updated to include fixes, but still may be useful)

If you don't know what Open64 is or why you should care.. (The release
notes for 4.2 should give some idea..)

------------
Another developer and I are trying to overcome two additional problems
with Open64
1) Documentation needs a lot of work
2) There's not real /community/ for open collaboration
For the first problem we're just slowly collecting all research and
current documentation available. Currently, we are mostly trying to
focus on documenting the different sections of the code and what each
phase does. From there we'll strengthen the retargetting guide and I
may make a paper on the OpenSolaris/FreeBSD port.
The second problem is more social though. We've setup an irc channel
and putting in the extra work to find not only those who are doing the
research, but also the end users.
So feel free to drop by or recommend a friend take a look to help spread
the word.
Thanks
./Christopher
