success!!

Many thanks to all list participants!

I got into the newly installed system via ssh.

# uname -srm
FreeBSD 8.0-CURRENT-200906 ia64
#

# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Capacity Mounted on
/dev/da0p2 496M 35M 421M 8% /
devfs 1.0K 1.0K 0B 100% /dev
/dev/da0p1 256M 156M 100M 61% /efi
/dev/da0p5 496M 12K 456M 0% /tmp
/dev/da0p6 11G 236M 10G 2% /usr
/dev/da0p4 1.9G 228K 1.8G 0% /var
#

Note the EFI files take up 156 MB, whereas the EFI partition created
by default by the installation program was only 100 MB. This is
probably a reason for having loader.efi of zero size.
So, it seems, the installation program needs to be updated to reflect this.

I'm still puzzled by the inability to login via MP LAN. The login prompt
just doesn't appear. I've in /etc/ttys:

# Serial terminals. The 'dialup' keyword identifies dialin lines to login,
# fingerd etc.
ttyu0 "/usr/libexec/getty std.9600" cons25 on secure
ttyu1 "/usr/libexec/getty std.9600" dialup off secure
ttyu2 "/usr/libexec/getty std.9600" dialup off secure
ttyu3 "/usr/libexec/getty std.9600" dialup off secure

Is that what I should have?

many thanks
anton
