Ok, I have another same/similar system, except this has an internal (IDE?SCSI) optical drive.
IA64/7.0:
Some of the dmesg:__sym_calloc2: failed to allocate CCB[520]__sym_calloc2: failed to allocate CCB[520]
I think several of these.acd0: TIMEOUT - READ_BIG retrying (1 retry left)acd0: TIMEOUT - READ_BIG retrying (0 retries left)acd0: FAILURE - READ_BIG timed outGEOM_LABEL: Label for provider acd0 is iso9660/FreeBSD_bootonlyacd0: TIMEOUT - READ_BIG retrying (1 retry left)acd0: TIMEOUT - READ_BIG retrying (0 retries left)acd0: FAILURE - READ_BIG timed out
Trying to mount root from ufs:/dev/md0
/stand/sysinstall running as init on serial console
These are the predefined terminal types available to...
I proceed just slightly through setup..:
.. no disks found!
so I rebooted manually.
GNU/Linux Debian 4.0r5 installed ok.I'll update the firmware and try again. And try 7.1 beta2.Maybe try installing over the network? I've never done that, always seems too difficult.
ok...still with same firmware..burned 7.1 beta 2 disk 1, on a different burner.the __sym_calloc2 errors are..reduced to just one.The READ_BIG errors remain..and..it panics..here is full boot output:

I'll try updating the firmware.
And I'll try USB again. Will probably just run HP-UX on this.

Thanks, - Jay

I tried 7.0 and 7.1beta2, so two burns, same result.I did burn them both on the GNU/Linux/IA64. I can try burning on Windows, later.
