Hi,

i installed 5.3-BETA1 on my system.
the installation procedure worked very well, but after finishing and rebooting
it stops at:
- -> Mounting root from ufs:/dev/ad0p2
- -> start_init: trying /sbin/init

there is no panic or invocation of the debugger, it simple hangs at this point
forever.

i reinstalled SNAP-20040810 and it is booting normal.
after that i checked out the whole RELENG_5 source from yesterday and
recompiled world.
after installworld many binaries dumped core. for example:
make, sysinstall, cc, gcc ...
a look in /usr/obj shows a separate ia64 dir with working versions of gcc, cc. but these are not the ones which where installed by installworld. there is also
a make.ia64 which is working, but it's different from the installed one too.
a short look with gdb shows that it is dumping at something with ...tls. sorry,
i have the real function name not available, as the system is hanging at the
same point i mentioned above.

is there any solution or anything i can provide to track this down that it can
be fixed?

regards
Joerg
