Hello,
I'm running a brand new IBM x3200, it's a quad core 2.5Ghz xeon with front loading hot swappable sata disks connected via an LSI controller. And it's this LSI controller appears to be causing me some problems.
When I first installed 7.0-STABLE from CD the onboard broadcom netextreme network cards were not working upgraded to 7.0-STABLE-p4 via cvsup.
After rebooting the following appears during boot:
acd0: dvdr at ata5-master sata150
**pauses here for awhile***
mpt0: completing timeout/aborted req 0xc4e1ebe8:95
mpt0: timeout requests already complete. interrupts may not be functioning
The box hangs here and continues to display these mpt errors. Eventually the machine locks and requires a cold reboot.
If i boot in safe mode the machine boots just fine (and the onboard network cards appear too). Oddly, I didn't have this problem with the fresh install of 7.0-STABLE from the cd. it occurs only since I upgraded to 7.0-STABLE-p4 (I can confirm it also occurs in 7.1-PRERELEASE).
One thing to note is I found a possibly similar bug report which was left unconfirmed/unsolved (i386/88717)
Can anyone offer any insight or help?
