>Description:
Doing a make buildworld resulted in thermal shutdown. This laptop has run freebsd for years and never shown a problem. Prior to the shutdown I was monitoring passive cooling and saw it working as intended. Relevent lines from /var/log/messages:

Oct 31 12:15:50 aku root: WARNING: system temperature too high, shutting down so
on!
Oct 31 13:11:46 aku kernel: acpi_perf0: set freq failed, err 22
Oct 31 13:11:46 aku kernel: acpi_tz0: failed to set new freq, disabling passive
cooling
Oct 31 13:12:46 aku kernel: acpi_perf0: set freq failed, err 22
Oct 31 13:19:24 aku root: WARNING: system temperature too high, shutting down so
on!
Oct 31 13:24:56 aku root: WARNING: system temperature too high, shutting down so
on!
Oct 31 13:25:06 aku kernel: acpi_tz0: WARNING - current temperature (93.0C) exce
eds safe limits

Other than tailored kerenl config acpi_ibm and acpi_video were loaded along with some drivers. No devices were active other than disk (all data was local).

I'm not sure I heard the fan kick in.

>How-To-Repeat:
Run xorg/kde. Nothing but terminal windows.

make buildworld in a terminal window.
