It is during install.
>Description:
I had FreeBSD 5-Stable on my Dell D600 (PATA) and when I got a new D610 (SATA) I cannot boot it after install. When I install the boot manager I get a "Invalid Slice" error and when I install a standard MBR I get a "Invalid Partition Table" error. Incidentally, I tried 5.4-Release and a 6-Current snapshot and I achieved the same error messages. The D610 uses the Intel ICH6 SATA controller to which I believe the problem lies. The DMESG on vt4 during install shows it as a ICH5 and UDMA100.
>How-To-Repeat:
Install any version of FreeBSD on a Dell D610 laptop.
