Broadcom aren't very forthcoming, and they don't even list the CSB6 / OSB6 in their product overview. Message-ID: <834002669.20090912225608@serebryakov.spb.ru> Hello, Freebsd-embedded. I need small, cheap and silent box with one or two network ports (ARM/MIPS, I think), like legendary ASUS WL500G and other OpenWRT-supported boxes, but with FreeBSD "support". I'm using Soekris net5501 (x86) now and very happy with it, but it is expensive and very-hard-to-buy in Russia, so I can not buy another one as second such box. I don't need WiFi or ADSL in this box, but it will be a plus. Is here any known, SOHO-market, well-availiable sopaboxes, on which FreeBSD could be installed, with wire network support? -- // Black Lion AKA Lev Serebryakov From frank at undermydesk.org Mon Sep 14 16:16:02 2009 From: frank at undermydesk.org (Frank Reppin) Date: Mon Sep 14 16:16:09 2009 Subject: Some small networked box with FreeBSD support? I had good experiences using an GEODE driven 'WRAP 1.E-2' board from http://www.pcengines.ch/wrap.htm but they EOL'ed and and where replaced by some more decent ALIX boards: https://shop.tronico.net/Embedded-Computer/ALIX-by-PC-Engines/Mainboards/ They are quite a bit cheaper than SOEKRIS - but no idea about their shipment costs. The problem is, the RTL8187L driver has only just been added to 8.0-CURRENT and this is for a production system, etc. This isn't a project that I can be on the bleeding edge with. So, I just want a rock solid _absolutely known to work with 6.x and 7.x_ USB wifi adaptor that can accept an external antenna. 802.11b/g, and the more powerful the better. Thanks. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Never heard of a 9220; but google shows it's new so not unexpected. However that does mean the hal doesn't support it so what you see makes sense. Looks like this might do what you need: http://www.ubnt.com/products/sr71usb.php. The only issue is that it uses a 9160 part which has known bugs and the driver doesn't (apparently) know how to workaround them. Otherwise I've never heard usb and external antenna mentioned in the same sentence. Thanks. I thought chip id=0x0029 should be supported by your hal and 9220 look's older than 9280 ;-)) I can send a sample R52n for research.
