Warner (imp@) has started tinkering on fixing the whole hint mechanism to 
interact a lot better with ACPI and PnP BIOS and we've had some brief 
discussions on IRC about how to fix it, but I'm not sure a real fix would be 
in the pipeline soon as it's a rather big pile of stuff to untangle to get it 
all working correctly.
