Intel ICH5 ATA100 IDE/ATA controllers support

I'm sure you'll get opinions all over the place for that question. There are
several IDE-RAID solutions ranging from the budget (read: cheap) to the
robust (read: expensive) that work in FreeBSD. If you insist on IDE disks,
and are looking for budget, there are several people that recommend the
promise controllers found down on many motherboards. If you're looking for
robust, there are ATA controllers from 3ware and Intel that offer a hardware
based RAID solution. It all boils down to the performance and reliability
you expect/need. If you're running a low usage MySQL server and are looking
for simple mirroring, either a Promise controller or the onboard IDE
controller with software mirroring should be sufficient. If you're doing
heavy usage and need 99.9% uptime with hot plug etc, you'll want to explore
the hardware options or SCSI.

SQL database as well.
