Need help with ports/186616

Greetings gnome@ maintainers,

I send this email to the list in the hope someone would be willing to
help me with ports/186616. This PR was opened a month ago by Henry Hu
(in CC), and it is a dependency for another PR I am working on
(ports/187209).

If someone in the gnome@ team had some spare time, that would be of
great help to me if he could look into this PR.
