Metacity doesn't start when Gnome starts

I've placed Metacity in the Gnome "Startup applications" and this seems to 
work. Strange though that this is needed to make it work.

I do have some errors in ~/.xsession-errors, but these are older than the 
moment that the problem with Metacity occured, and I got them since using 
Gnome:
