Workspace Switcher: cannot add workspaces

I can't reproduce all of your problem. It sounds like you have an  
permission issue or owner of ~/.* folders/files. Do the ~/.* have the  
correct ownership?

Try to look in the ~/.xsession-errors for any error outputs.
