gnome-volume-control broken?

Hi,
I just upgraded gnome from 2.26.0 to 2.26.1 on FreeBSD 7.1-ST. Now the
volume control doesn't seem to work anymore although sound itself seems
to work fine. When I start gnome-volume-control from the command line it
says:
...
gnome-volume-control
** (gnome-volume-control:16516): DEBUG: Disabling debugging
I: caps.c: Dropping root privileges.
** (gnome-volume-control:16516): WARNING **: Connection failed
...
and a popup from Gnome saying that it's waiting for the sound system to
respond.
I also tried to start the volume control as root. Then it said (about 50
times):
...
** (gnome-control-center:19993): WARNING **: error accessing
/apps/control-center/cc_actions_list [Failed to contact configuration
server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking
for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. See
http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1: Failed to
get connection to session: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes
include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus
security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the
network connection was broken.)]
...
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks.
Marco
