No worry, it's our fault for not being explain more clear. I have sent a  
reply[1] to explain more clear, so if there is anything that is not clear  
to you or others. Feel free to fire some questions away.

The share/gnome/apps is old and is for GNOME 1.x, but GNOME 2.x still does  
support to read in share/gnome/apps. I think most ports should be move  
 from share/gnome/apps to share/applications, that way a lot of WM/desktop  
can see it menu such as KDE, Xfce, GNOME2, Fluxbox and etc. The  
share/applications is standard for general desktop.
