Firefox only runs as root?

New 6.2 install. Firefox will only run as root--every time, not just that you
need to run it the first time as root, which i remember form a while back.
I can always run it as root, but running as a regular user just fails silently
(i.e. returns to the commandline with no error messsages or other output).

Am i missing something?
