I suffered the failure described in the PR, but only very recently and in
seamonkey (which I use more than thunderbird).  Downgrading
x11-toolkits/gtk20 to gtk-2.10.6_3 solved my DnD issue in seamonkey,
so at least in my case it appears gtk-2.10.7 broke DnD.
