openssl conflict when trying to upgrade Gnome

I upgraded FreeBSD from 6.0 to 6.1 last night. I'm now trying to go about
upgrading Gnome from 2.12 to 2.14. I've hit a snag with gnomevfs2. It seems
to want openssl-0.9.8b:

===>   gnomevfs2-2.14.1_1 depends on file: /usr/local/lib/libcrypto.so.4 -
not found
===> Verifying install for /usr/local/lib/libcrypto.so.4 in
/usr/ports/security/openssl
===>  Extracting for openssl-0.9.8b

However, this fails because I have openssl-stable-0.9.7j:

===>  Installing for openssl-0.9.8b

===>  openssl-0.9.8b conflicts with installed package(s):
      openssl-stable-0.9.7j

      They install files into the same place.
      Please remove them first with pkg_delete(1).
*** Error code 1

Problem is, a lot of things depend on openssl-stable:

Information for openssl-stable-0.9.7j:

Is it safe to forcibly change all these to use openssl-0.9.8b instead? I
did searching on the mailing lists and could not find this being discussed
before.
