Upgrade ?

You need to update libexif in your system and try it again. As for amd64,  
GNOME runs fine. I think I might suggest you to hold on because today we  
are going to update GNOME 2.10 in ports tree. Unless, you prefer to have  
GNOME 2.8.x.
