gdm start and load goes high logging off

You should read the pkg-message for gdm as well as /usr/ports/UPDATING.
Gdm should not be started out of /etc/ttys.

There is a gdm bug open about gdm-binary taking up too much CPU time.
Search through GNOME Bugzilla, and you'll find it.
