"Official" is a loaded word.  What exactly do you mean?  Since there is
no "official" desktop for FreeBSD, there is really no official
wallpaper.  As a member of the FreeBSD GNOME team, I would be open to
including a FreeBSD-themed desktop background by default with GNOME
releases provided the FreeBSD GNOME user community agreed to the choice.

As for this submission, I don't think black works very well as a default
wallpaper.  For one, it clashes with the default GNOME theme (Glider in
2.8).  Another problem is that it is very release-specific.  We still
have users on 4.X that use GNOME.  I do like the font, but Beastie looks
a bit....uncomfortable.
