I've now managed to get Gnome-2.8 installed on my test box. There were a couple of other hiccups involving evolution / heimdal that I managed to find answers to in the archives (whew!), and it all appears to have been upgraded fine in the end. Logged out and back into Gnome and the new splash screen shows me that Gnome-2.8 is now indeed installed and running.

Thanks a lot (to *EVERYONE*) for the time and patience with me on this.

Regards,

Stacey
