Upgrade to Gnome-2.8 from Gnome-2.6.x using script failed

I think this is identical to a problem I had when using the gnome
upgrade script.

Skipping 'multimedia/gstreamer-plugins' (gstreamer-plugins-0.8.5_1)
because a requisite package 'gstreamer-0.8.7' (multimedia/gstreamer)
failed (specify -k to force)

gstreamer-plugins won't install gstreamer for you if it's not installed.

Try installing gstreamer manually. Then start the upgrade script again.
