Gnome 2.6.0_1 install problem.

Sorry, do a 'make clean' on x11/gnome2 first and then rerun 'make
install clean'.  The building is resuming from where it last ended. Your
old CFLAGS setting is being used because it was set on the first run and
that needs to be cleared away for your new changes to take affect.
