zfs very poor performance compared to ufs due to lack of cache?

Source data is in the files: sendfile-on-arcstats-idle.txt and sendfile-off-arcstats-idle.txt

For reference:-
start = results just after boot
inprog = snap shot while test is running
stop = results just after new requests where disabled
idle = test has finished and connections have had chance to finish and the machine
return to an idle state.
