okay, so it sounds like from multiple people this could be doable and
stable enough:
dual or quad-core current gen processor (amd64)
4g ram
4 or 6x 1tb disks
freebsd 7.0-release
these tweaks to /boot/loader.conf:
vm.kmem_size=600M
vm.kmem_size_max=600M
vfs.zfs.prefetch_disable=1
right?
I am fine with sacrificing a little bit of speed for stability. This
will only run a few rsyncs per day, and then a single snapshot per day
per filesystem (with maybe 15 filesystems maximum right now)
