The truth is, that when it is the tree, it is much easier to try.
AFAIR, there was no feedback when kan@ had posted last snapshot.

I fully understand that it is not ready yet for committing, but when
you start to fell read-only support is ready, don't wait for the
full read-write support and allow to commit it.
Then you can work on r/w support in peace and (in parallel) enjoy
feedback from users:)
