VirtualBox: why there is no Passthrough checkbox on Storage screen?

This worked. With the caveat that I see some garbage symbol on screen. 
See half of the brace in the attached image.
Menu popping from the CD button amazingly has another half of the brace 
and nothing else on the line for the passthrough.
