Many README.txt and .message files at the FreeBSD ftp server
ftp.freebsd.org are out of date

- ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/
  mention dead releases "3.5.1-RELEASE" and "4.2-RELEASE" 

- ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/README.TXT
  claimes that 4.7 is the latest release:

    The official FreeBSD releases.  The latest releases are:

    releases/i386/4.7-RELEASE
    releases/alpha/4.7-RELEASE
   [...]

- ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/
  alot of dead and no longer available FreeBSD releases:


  These are packages for the i386 architecture.  Here are brief

  packages-2.2-stable:  The last snapshot of packages for
                        FreeBSD-2.2-stable, built in January 1999.
