Add
mysql_enable="YES" to /etc/rc.conf
and then from a shell
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/mysql-server start

Werner, I've done this and restarted the server and still no
mysql-server script file exists.
Can you send me the output of the script file I'm missing please anyone?
