status of and/or url to check base packages repo somewhere?

There is no public repository for base packages as of yet.  It is still
highly considered a 'beta' feature at this point.  A public repository
for base packages is one of the requirements to get it out of 'beta',
but there are a few outstanding issues elsewhere.
