Yes, it is. But there is a catch. There are two kinds of drivers:
evdev-native and hybrid. evdev-native driver supports only evdev
protocol and its only dependency is evdev KLD. hybrid driver
supports evdev protocol as an option along with old way of reporting
events. So for the latter evdev is compile-time option. And since
it's off in default kernel loading evdev would not help. To enable
evdev support in ums, ukbd, kbdmux, and sysmouse you will need to
rebuild kernel with following option:
options EVDEV_SUPPORT
device evdev
