9.0 and cdparanoia

So, I do have problems using the binary ...see:
# cdparanoia -vsQ

Cdparanoia could not find a way to read audio from this drive.
I do have pass in my kernel ... doesn't seem to work in 9
$cdcontrol info works just fine
