The dhclient issue you faced isn't related to my new CARP commit either
my SIOCAIFADDR work. I'm sorry that we flooded your email thread with
the discussion. The breakage from r228571 looks like:

# ifconfig em0 10.0.0.1
ioctl (SIOCAIFADDR): Invalid argument
#

The breakage from r228313 looks like:

  Starting dhclient.
  ifconfig: ioctl (SIOCAIFADDR): File exists
