FYI, this is now (basically) a no-op, you should be able to remove it
safely.

Do this: ifconfig gif0 -ifdisabled
That should fix the problem with the tunnel. If it does, try changing
ifconfig_gif0 to ifconfig_gif0_ipv6 in rc.conf and let me know if that
fixes it for you.

That was my fault, I just committed the fix in r207592. Sorry for the
