Is the hardware in the machine (CPU, motherboard, and memory) confirmed 
to be solid? I ran into a similar situation last month 
(http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-fs/2009-August/006606.html), 
the root cause of which turned out to be bad memory. ZFS tends to make 
the problem show up more frequently since it uses a lot of memory.
